Movement Division/Pre-Ballet

NEBT has developed a creative movement program for young children who love to move, dance, and simply have fun. Creative movement class focuses on the earliest teachings of dance through directed play. This is the first class a child should partake before an actual dance class.  This class helps children further their development of fine and large motor skills through fun and imaginative activities. Children will begin to develop a foundation that includes musicality, rhythm, trust and social skills. Creative movement class leads directly into the Pre-Ballet level. During pre-ballet children will begin learning the basic elements of ballet technique including primary positions and vocabulary. Proper ballet etiquette and philosophy are learned and executed during this course.

Ballet

The instructor at NEBT is highly trained in all genres of classical ballet. Styles including; Vaganova, Cecchetti, and Balanchine will be introduces during the students dance career. Strict ballet etiquette, proper placement, and technical execution will be learned and perfected in this time. Advanced levels will begin to expand their artistic abilities through performances once they are versed in intermediate vocabulary. Pre-pointe and students with pointe experience will have the opportunity to become a “Company Dancer”. Company dancers will be chosen through an audition process, preparing them for the experiences they will encounter when auditioning in the dance world. Company members will have the privilege of becoming assistant teachers for the young children’s division. All of this can be achieved in a strict professional atmosphere, while having an experience of a life time! NEBT is also offering  adult ballet for anyone out of high school who is interested!

Modern Dance

IMG_3672_edited.jpg

Using the techniques of; Lester Horton, Martha Graham, and José Limon, dancers are challenged with the different aspects of each genre. Students will explore their artistic freedom through center, across the floor work and choreography. Contact Improvisation will be introduced during these classes as well as jazz classes. Contact improvisation is a class based on learning the limits of the dancer’s body by taking trust to the next level. Students will learn how to work with the distribution of each others weight to create movements or poses. This is a very demanding form of dance and can only be properly executed with ones full attention and commitment

Contemporary Dance

Untitled_edited.jpg

Imagine a world where there were no limitations in movement. This is what we call contemporary dance. It is a cross between ballet and modern. With a creative and imaginative mind it can be just as breathtaking as the two. There is a catch, children must have a basic knowledge and understanding of both ballet and modern before participating in this class. Proper technical experience is necessary for the beauty of contemporary to bloom.

Aerial Yoga & Aerial Barre

Feel like a kid again! Come stretch, flip, stretinthen, and tone yourself in this no gravity off the ground one hour class.

Why Aerial Yoga?

Aerial yoga offers many of the same benefits and enjoyments of regular yoga, but it also has some additional benefits as well:

Greater Flexibility. Since you have more freedom of movement, you can move your body into new positions. In some cases, this can result in a deeper and more fulfilling stretch than traditional yoga offers.

Better Focus. By putting yourself in a more challenging situation than usual, aerial yoga forces you to be more alert and aware of your surroundings. You will likely also try to concentrate harder because you're not used to being suspended in the air during your yoga practice.

Strengthened Muscles. Because gravity is working harder on your body than usual, your muscles work harder too. Aerial yoga is also a great core workout because you have to engage your core muscles to balance and stabilize yourself during your yoga session.

Stress-Relief. Much like traditional yoga, aerial yoga is great for stress relief. Not only do you use poses and stretches common to other forms of yoga to relieve stress, but you also experience the joy of knowing that you did something new and exciting, which makes you feel good

Barre Fitness

Zumba

Barre fitness is a hybrid workout class - combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements. But the real difference between barre and other workouts are the isometric movements you usually perform - holding your body still while you contract specific muscles, until you shake and feel the burn! -Cosmo
